Mountain Biking at Kathmandu valley

Kathmandu, the capital city of our country is one of the demanding and popular touristic destination of the world. Starting from the sightseeing of the ancient durbars and temples to strolling in the local streets of Kathmandu valley, this majestic city has many more to offer to its visitors. One can have an opportunity to either visit this majestic city by bus, car, jeep, bike and other many sorts of transportation. One of the demanding and popular way of visiting this city in a limited amount of time is with the help of mountain bikes.

Mountain Biking, the fastest growing sport of Nepal is a major attraction of tourists in the country. Riding through the huge mountain landscapes with the spectacular mountain ranges views makes this adventure more thrilling and fun. As number of tourists who come to Nepal for adventure are increasing, the demand for mountain biking in Nepal is also increasing rapidly.

Visitors will get an opportunity to visit some of the famous places of Kathmandu in mountain bikes and this will be much fun as well. Some of the famous places we will visit in this journey are Pashupatinath temple, Swoyambhunath temple, Bouddhanath Stupa, 3 ancient durbars of Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kathmandu. Apart from that we will also visit Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, Kakani, Budhanilakantha and other many famous places of Kathmandu. As number of tourists who come to Nepal for adventure are increasing, the demand for mountain biking in Nepal is also increasing rapidly.

  • DAY 1

    ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT AND TRANSFER TO THE HOTEL BY PRIVATE CAR

    You will be welcomed and greeted by our representative in the Tribhuvan International Airport and then you will be transferred to the hotel. Remaining day, you can do the sightseeing of nearby streets and markets. Overnight at Kathmandu

     

  • DAY 2

    PRE-TRIP MEETING AND RIDE FROM KATHMANDU TO KAKANI:

    After the meeting, you prepare your equipment and backpack, and then ride off to Kakani. You head through the bustling backstreets of Thamel and on to good wide undulating Jeep tracks alongside the Nagarjun Forest. Your efforts are rewarded by spectacular mountain views. On the way, taste the delicious trout fish farmed locally – which gives the route the name Trout Highway. You bike mostly uphill to Kakani, which is at 2,073 meters elevation. Once in your destination, you can enjoy the stunning views of Ganesh and Langtang mountains and the valley of Likhu Khola 1,000 meters below. Overnight at a hotel.

     

  • DAY 3

    RIDE FROM KAKANI TO BUDANILKANTHA

    Head off on one of the best single tracks in the valley down toward the Budhanilkantha Temple (Sleeping Vishnu), passing through the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. Budhanilkantha is a remarkable fifth-century statue of the Lord Vishnu, reclining on the coil of giant king snakes in the middle of a small pond. Your efforts are rewarded by spectacular panoramic mountain views of Ganesh and Langtang Himal on the way. Moreover, the hotel you’ll be staying at in Budhanilkantha is a true resort established in a rural setting with culturally rich and naturally pristine environment whose garden harbors nearly 75 species of birds and 2,000 flowering trees and shrubs. Overnight at Budanilakantha.

     

  • DAY 4

    RIDE FROM BUDANILKANTHA TO NAGARKOT

    Today, you head off towards Boudhanath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal. Following the tarmac past Boudhanath, you take in clearer views of Kathmandu. You continue on the ride to the Sankhu village and you stop here for lunch and explore this ancient town. From here, you cycle along a Jeep track road to wind your way up with a two-hour climb to Nagarkot – one of the most well-known hill stations in the country. The views of the Himalayan mountain range from Nagarkot, especially from the tower, more than compensate for this arduous ascent. On a clear day, even Mount Everest can be seen! After that, stay in Nagarkot at a guesthouse from where you can enjoy the sunset.

     

  • DAY 5

    RIDE FROM NAGARKOT TO DHULIKHEL:

    After breakfast, you head mostly downhill toward Nagarkot, though the last eight kilometers is uphill till Nagarkot view tower. There are great views of Himalayan panorama onto the left-hand side whereas on the right you will see a dense forest and the Kathmandu Valley far away. You stop for some brunch here then ride again downhill till Nala village (an old Newari village) and then mixed trails to Dhulikhel, another hill station of Kathmandu Valley, superb view of Himalayas. Enjoy some beer in the beautiful garden of your overnight hotel.

     

  • DAY 6

    RIDE FROM DHULIKHEL TO BALTHALI

    From Dhulikhel, you ride on the flat mostly paved route to Balthali. The traditional village with ancient architecture of the houses and innumerable temples welcome you. This definitely allows for a great spot for sightseeing. The greenery and the farms make your ride very pleasant. The village of Balthali is tucked away behind the forest of Panauti and is considered a naturally and culturally rich destination. The cozy hotel you’ll be at sports a bird’s eye view of green terrace field, massive surrounding hills, and faint streaks of the Himalayas to the north.

     

  • DAY 7

    BALTHALI - LAKURI BHANJYANG - KATHMANDU

    Today, you first ride for seven kilometers on a dirt trail to Panauti (an old city with many temples and monuments) – Indreshwar Mahadev Temple is one of the most popular there – and then you ride about 15 kilometers up but gradual to the Lakuri Bhanjyang. A bird’s eye view of Kathmandu Valley and mountains can be seen from here. There will be a small tented camp there where you will have your lunch and then go for seven kilometers head to toe downhill to Lubhu. Then, you ride on a paved road to Patan Durbar Square where you do some sightseeing and then ride back to Kathmandu. The tour ends and you will stay overnight at a hotel.

     

  • DAY 8

    CITY SIGHTSEEING TOUR OF KATHMANDU (ON A PRIVATE CAR / VAN)

    After an early morning breakfast, we will head towards the beautiful and ancient places of Kathmandu valley which includes the world heritage sites, temples, places and other many beautiful things. Talking about Kathmandu, this place is a paradise to the tourists of all over the world and one can get an opportunity to relax his/her body form head to toe by doing the sightseeing of some of the iconic things of the world. You will be taken to Pashupatinath temple which is one of the most religious and historical temples of Kathmandu. Thousands of devotees from Nepal, India and all over the world come to this ancient temple for their rituals and celebrations. After the visit of Pashupatinath, we will drive for 15-20 minutes to do the sightseeing of Bouddhanath stupa. After exploring these historical monuments, we will be doing the sightseeing of ancient Durbar squares of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur. Visiting Lalitpur and Bhaktapur will give you an opportunity to see the living goddess, Kumari and explore the ancient streets filled with arts and architects. A refreshing evening walk on the streets of Thamel and Basantapur will make you feel Kathmandu a really cool and historical place and you will also explore lots of new things in these streets. At afternoon, we will be back to our hotel and do the briefing of Everest Expedition trip. You will be guided about some of the important rules and suggestions for the trip such as what is your responsibility, what to do and what not to do on the trek? You will be then introduced to your fellow expedition staffs and guides and relax the hotel after dinner. Overnight at Hotel.

     

     

  • DAY 9

    DEPARTURE - TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT BY PRIVATE CAR

    Today will be the last day of this beautiful adventure. You will be transferred to the airport and then departure to your own home country.
